Second Quarter 2003 Groundwater Monitoring/Remediation Status Report
' Moore Petroleum Bulk Plant,5491 F Street,Banta,California
Page 5
Modifications from Standard Monitoring Pro rim:
None
REMEDIATION SYSTEM SUMMARY -
Soil Vapor Extraction System
System description: ,
Gasoline vapors are extracted from the subsurface through'three monitoring/vapor wells (VEW-' '
3/MW=8, MW-1,.and VEW-4/MW-7) and two vapor extraction wells (VEW-1 and VEW-2). The
wells are manifolded together with PVC piping in the remediation compound before connecting
to the extraction system (Figure 2). The vapor 'extraction system is a King Buck'®, 100 cf n, ;
catalytic.oxidizer model No. MMC-5A, utilizing.a positive-displacement blower as-a vacuum.
source:
System startup date: June 17, 2002
Current system mode; Catalytic operation since startup.
Active.extraction wells: ' VEW-1 through VEW4 k
Inactive extraction wells/reason: MW-1 F
' Status of system operation during reporting period/rea'sons for downtime:
During this reporting period, from March 25, to.June 19, 2003, the SVE system did not operate
continuously. According to hour meter readings and field data, the system operated a total of
60.7 days. The.SVE system was found shut down on May 22, with no obvious reason for the
shut down. The system was restarted and data was collected.as normal. On June 5, the SVE
system'was shut down following sampling and maintenance. to allow vapor concentrations to
rebound. The system was restarted during the following site visit however there.was no.evidence
of a concentration increase in the influent yapor stream.
Table 5 summarizes extraction and emission` data- from sampling events that .are normally
performed at the.beginning of'each month: The flow rates and analytical data are used to
calculate approximate pounds of hydrocarbons extracted System results are shown below.
System performance totals:
Pounds of TPH removed: 457 pounds (72.5 gallons) this quarter/
4,369 pounds (693 gallons)-total f
Pounds of benzene removed: 0.0 pounds this quartei/1.4,pounds total -
r
