a
Fourth Quarter 2004 Remediation Status Report
Moore Petroleum Sulk Plant,5491 F Street,Banta,California
Page 3
September 26, 2003 - Apex submitted a workplan that recommended in-situ chemical oxidation
by ozone sparging to remove the total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd)1 motor oil (mo)
TPHmo mass from the soil and groundwater. fit
November 10, 2003 - An addendum to the workplan was requested in a letter by the SJCEHD to
increase the scope of work to further delineate the.hydrocarbon plume by installing additional
monitoring wells. Technical data on the ozone system and the spacing of the sparge points was
also requested. On January 14, 2004, Apex submitted a report titled,Addendum to Workplan for
Ozone Sparging, addressing the November,10, 2003 SJCEHD letter.
May 12, 2004 - The SJCEHD responded to the aforementioned Addendum to Workplan for
Ozone Sparging, by approving the proposed ozone sparge wells and requesting application for
drilling permits.
The SJCEHD directed that an addendum be made by June 1, 2004, to the Workplan for a Limited
Subsurface Site Investigation, dated Jan 14, 2004, in order to define the vertical extent of I
contamination.
September of 2004-Apex installed and tested an SVE system with activated carbon adsorption
as the control device. In addition, Apex installed an ozone generator system for eventual ozone A
sparging. Drilling permits to install the sparging diffusers and an encroachment permit for
drilling and trenching in the public right of way were obtained in November of 2004.
December 6-8,'2'004—Apex supervised the drilling of nine ozone sparge wells (OS-2 through
OS-10). Ozone wells were advanced to a depth of 25 feet below ground surface. Further
information can be found in the forthcoming well installation results report.
GENERAL SITE INFORMATION
Site name: Moore Petroleum
I
Site address: 5491 F Street, Banta, California
Current property owner: Van De Pol Enterprises, Inc.
Current site use: Petroleum Bulk Plant
Current phase of project: Groundwater monitoring, active soil vapor remediation
Number of wells: 9 monitoring wells; 3 monitoring/vapor extraction wells; 2
vapor extraction wells; 1 recovery well; and 1 air sparge
well; 1 domestic well
I
fi
3
