I <br /> Fourth Quarter 2004 Remediation Status Report <br /> L/ MC, re Petroleum Bulk Plant,5491 F Street,Banta,California <br /> Page 4 <br /> REMEDIATION SYSTEM SUMMARY <br /> Soil Vapor Extraction System <br /> l <br /> System description: <br /> Petroleum vapors are extracted from the subsurface through three monitoring/vapor wells (VEW- <br /> 3/MW-8, MW-1, and VEW-4/MW-7) and two vapor extraction wells (VEW-1 and VEW-2). The <br /> wells are manifolded together with PVC.piping in the remediation compound before connecting <br /> to the extraction system. "The vapor extraction system is a 5-horsepower regenerative blower <br /> manufactured by Rotron-Ametek,Model number EN6F72L. Activated carbon adsorption <br /> abates the volatile organic"compounds extracted by the SVE system. The system is operating <br /> under the authority of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, Authority to <br /> Construct No. N 560-8-1. <br /> l -System startup date: June 17, 2002 <br /> Current system mode: Carbon abatement (September 29, 2004) <br /> Active extraction wells: VEW-1 through VEW-4 <br /> Inactive extraction wells/reason: . MW-1/system optimization, zero concentrations <br /> " Status of system operation during reporting periodl reasons for downtime: <br /> On September 29, 2004, the first source test was performed on the SVE system. The system was <br /> I <br /> then left shut down until November 11, 200.4, when the second source test was performed. Thus, <br /> the SVE system was not operated during the entire month of October,but ran continuously"from " <br /> November 11, 2004, until the end of this quarter. As described in the Authority to Construct <br /> condition 16, monitoring of the SVE system was performed weekly for eight weeks after full <br /> time operation began on November 1.1, 2004. A field photo-ionization detector was used to l <br /> sample hydrocarbon concentrations weekly for eight weeks, and two monthly samples were <br /> collected and analyzed in a California certified lab. According to hour meter readings and field <br /> data, the catox system operated for a total of 35 days during this period, October 1 to December <br /> 16, 2004.
