RO#0001668
Stockton, CA. 95205 PR#: 0523422
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) has reviewed Limited
Site Assessment Work Plan (Septic Tank Area) dated February 8, 2005 as submitted by
Advanced GeoEnviron mental Inc (AGE) and has the following comments.
As described in SJCEHD correspondence dated October 22, 2004, this work plan was
required to investigate if the chemicals that were detected in the septic tank on
September 7, 2004 have migrated to the soils below the septic system.
This proposal includes collecting soil samples from below the concrete septic tank, from
under the damaged discharge port of the septic tank to the `hard' line to the seepage pit,
and from under the estimated 25-foot deep seepage pit. All soil samples are proposed
to be collected from native soil, 1-2 feet below the septic system appurtenances.
Soil samples are proposed to be analyzed for total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons
(TRPH) by EPA Method 8015m- C4 through C-44, Methamphetamine by HPLC/MS/MS,
total phosphorus by EPA Method 365.2, and full scanfreport all peaks EPA Method
82606, to include Acetone and methanol.
SJCEHD conducted a site inspection on February 8, 2005 to verify some of the
excavation that has been conducted since the last inspection on October 20, 2004.
SJCEHD noted that this previously unknown septic system ended in a seepage pit
approximately 40-feet south of the 1200-1500 gallon septic tank. The line from the
septic tank was not in it's original position for the small parts that were visible. This
`hard' line was degraded metal and appeared to allow liquid to be released to the soil
beneath it.
In order to fully evaluate if chemicals from the septic tank have impacted the soil from
the degraded `hard' line, SJCEHD will require additional soil samples to be collected
from under this line. Please have your consultant show as much as possible of the
original `hard' line and the soil around it at the time of the fieldwork and have adequate
supplies to complete this additional soil sampling requirement. SJCEHD will determine
where the additional samples are to be collected based on field conditions.
