Sierra Motel — UIC Drug lab page 2
3416 Farmington Rd, Stockton.
In addition to the analytes included in this AGE proposal, please include pH (EPA
9045C), and Total Phosphorus as P (EPA Method 365.2) as previously directed in
SJCEHD correspondence dated October 22, 2004.
A visual inspection of the septic tank is required by SJCEHD if you have plans to reuse
the system. Please ensure that the compartments are empty and dry before you
schedule this requirement with Mr. Infurna. A 48-working hours notice is required for this
inspection request if not conducted at the time of the field inspection for the soil
sampling.
In addition to the broken hard line, if the visual inspection reveals that the tank and the
septic pit construction are not in a condition that would allow proper system operation,
the affected parts/area must be repaired or replaced before the system can be placed
back in operation and the occupancy restrictions currently in place for these apartments
can be removed.
If soil/sludge/water sample laboratory data indicates that chemicals are detected at
significant levels, an additional investigation may be required to determine the vertical
extent of the chemical migration and if the ground water has been impacted. The report
of findings for this initial investigative phase should provide recommendations if
significant contamination is detected under the septic tank, `hard-line', or pit area. The
septic system investigation, and remediation if needed, must be adequately conducted
and completed (including report submittal at SJCEHD) prior to SJCEHD permitting the
septic system to be placed back in operation.
The work plan is approved with the inclusion of the above noted conditions. Please
have your consultant submit a completed Well Permit Application and fee immediately.
Please contact Michael Infurna at (209) 468-3454 to schedule your appointments or if
you have any questions.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environ ntal Health Department
Michael Infurna, Senio EHS Margare Lagorio, REHS
UIC-Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
MI/
c: AGE — Chris Miller, 837 Shaw Rd., Stockton.
c: SJCEHD -- Unit V, Alan Bierdermann, Stockton.
