KLEINFELDER
ATTACHMENT A
Workplan
Limited Soil and Groundwater Assessment
Proposed Home Depot Store CA-725
Feather River Drive
Stockton, California
File No.: 20-YP9-022
May 18, 1999
INTRODUCTION
Kleinfelder is pleased to present this proposal to Home Depot USA Inc.. This proposal was
developed based on conversations with Mr. Rick Manners regarding environmental issues at the
site. Kleinfelder is committed to providing quality service to its clients, commensurate with their
wants, needs and desired level of risk. If a portion of this proposal does not meet the needs of
Home Depot USA Inc or if those needs have changed, Kleinfelder will consider appropriate
modifications, subject to the standards of care to which we adhere as professionals.
Modifications such as changes in scope, methodology. scheduling, and contract terms may result
in changes to the risks assumed by Home Depot USA Inc. as well as adjustments to our fees.
This workplan has been prepared to evaluate potential soil and/or groundwater contamination on
the proposed Home Depot store site (Plate 1). It is suspected that contamination may be present
due to a documented fuel release (currently undergoing investigation) at the Unocal Service
Station located at March Lane and Interstate Highway 5 (Plate 2). Groundwater in the vicinity of
the site is anticipated to occur at a depth of 7 to 10 feet below grade with a flow direction to the
northwest.
It is Kleinfelder's understanding that Home Depot USA Inc. does not wish to install permanent
wells at the project site. It is also Kleinfeldet's understanding that the proposed construction
may involve excavation of utility trenches at to depths at which groundwater may be
encountered. If dewatering of trenches is required. it may be necessary to evaluate disposal
options if groundwater at the site has been impacted by the nearby Unocal Service Station.
SCOPE OF WORK
Task 1 -- Drilling Permit Submittal and Pre-Mobilization Preparation
Kleinfelder proposes to install three temporary wells on site as shown on Plate 2. The San
Joaquin County Public Health Services Department Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
requires approval of a workplan, application for a boring permit, and payment of fees prior to
conducting assessment activities. It is assumed that this workplan will suffice to obtain approval
from the PHS/EHD. Kleinfelder will prepare boring permit applications for submittal to
PHS/EHD. The permits and workplan must be approved prior to conducting any drilling or
sampling.
20-YP9.022/2019PI56 Page A-I
Copyright 1999 Kleinfelder, Inc. May 18, 1999 .
