�`■ KLEINFELDER • The borings are to be drilled with a truck mounted drill rig equipped with hollow stem augers, or sampled using a hand auger and slide hammer. If difficult drilling conditions are encountered, alternative sampling methods may be necessary. • Soil and water generated during the drilling and sampling will be the responsibility of the client. Soil cuttings will be placed on and covered by visquene, and decontamination rinseate and purge water xviil be contained in drums and left on site. Sampling and analysis of the contained soil and water may be necessary prior to disposal. Disposal or remediation options for the soil aad water can be assessed once analytical results have been received. Kleintelder is prepared to assist the client and to remediate or dispose of stockpiled soil and water, if requested, at an additional cost. • This proposal is based on the presumption that the client will clearly mark utilities and will provide any and all available survey maps or other data to determine the location of tanks, existing structures, underground utilities and services. • The client should be aware that penetrating the site's surface is inherently risky. It is impossible to determine with certainty the precise location of all structures (such as septic system tanks, leach fields or irrigation lines) which may be buried in the ground. Kieinfelder's fee is not adequate to compensate for both the performance of the services and the assumption of risk of damage to such structures. • Underground Services Alert (l[SA) at 1-800-642-2444 provides a partial location service free of charge for major utility lines. 1t is important that Home Depot USA Inc. understands that subsurface structures (such as the septic systems and leach fields) buried under private property will not be marked by the public utility companies contacted by USA. Kleinfelder can make contact with USA for a site visit, i f requested. SCHEDULE Kleinfelder anticipates conducting field activities on Tuesday May 25, 1999 assuming written authorization to proceed is received by Monday May 24, 1999 and PHS/EHD approval is granted by the end of the day on Monday May 24, 1999. Laboratory analytical results will be available within 5 working days of the completion of field activities. Our written report will follow our receipt of the analytical results within approximately 5 working days. LIMITATIONS Kleinfelder offers various levels of investigative and engineering services to suit the varying needs of different clients. Althou-h risk can never be eliminated, more detailed and extensive investigations yield more information. which may help understand and manage the level of risk. Since detailed investigation and analysis involves greater expense, our clients participate in determining levels of service which provide adequate information for their purposes at acceptable levels of risk.
