Min Greek -------- -------------------- ---------- --- AssoCiates Nater Resource and Environmental Consulting February 3, 1995 Ms. Wendy Cohen Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board 3443 Routier Road Sacramento, CA 95827-3098 RE: Souza Property (APN: 238-080-01) Lammers and Byron Roads, Tracy, CA Dear Ms. Cohen, In a letter dated October 12 , 1994 we forwarded several preliminary assessment reports summarizing work conducted on parcel APN 238- 080-02 , immediately adjacent to the above referenced property. Both of these properties are located across Byron Road from the Dividend property (Figure 1) , which is currently in a remediation phase. In December, a subsurface investigation was undertaken which consisted of sampling soils and groundwater from 3 wells on each of these parcels (a total of 6 wells) . One soil sample and one water sample were collected from each well and submitted for a suite of petroleum hydrocarbon analyses. These results are summarized on the attached Tables. Although the work was done concurrently at both properties, separate Site Investigation Reports are being prepared, and this letter has been prepared to address subsurface conditions and recommendations only with respect to the Souza parcel (APN: 238-080-01) . Figure 1 shows the wells locations on each property and Figure two presents the local gradient derived from the six wells. Survey data is attached. ,. The previous reports for the adjacent parcel known as the Nicholaw property (APN 238-080-02) indicated low levels of xylenes and diesel hydrocarbons in soil samples taken from near the capillary zone in the northern most portion of the site (within 600 feet of Byron Road) . A groundwater sample from a single well on-site contained diesel hydrocarbons and low levels of B`1'EX. The subsequent investigation has confirmed the low to moderate levels of soil contamination in that area of parcel 238-080-02 , however, analysis of water samples from two wells (MWl-2 and MW3-2 on Figure 1) along Byron Road did not detect petroleum hydrocarbons . On the adjacent Souza property (APN 238-080-01) , petroleum hydrocarbon analytes were below detection limits in s-e-14 samples from the capillary zone in all three wells, with the exception of Poet Office Box 130 • Milford, Ca. 96121 a 11,11. 916-253-2155 • lynx 916-253-2294 1r T
