Three soil samples from each boring were selected for analysis by the
registered professional based on odor, discoloration and previous findings in order to
demonstrate a clean lateral interface, see Table 2 and 3 for the laboratory results and
elevations measured. {
F
3.0 Work Plan
l 3.1 Excavation
rWHF in conjunction with Paydirt Excavation Co. Inc., a licensed excavation
1 contractor, will execute an over-excavation at this site to remediate the second
Y
soils contamination remaining after the tank excavation. Dewatering of the
excavation will be required to reach the target depth of thirty (30) feet. WHF will
supervise the excavation and disposition of the soils at the site. WHF will log the
excavation with a qualified professional. This excavation is estimated to be 60' x
70' at the bottom of the 3fl' excavation, approximately 5,600 cubic yards wilt be✓
removed for remediation. This assumes that the excavation will be below the
groundwater and have adequate side slopes. h
The contractor must remove and dispose of existing concrete and asphalt surfaces
previous to the excavation. These surfaces will be replaced in kind after the
excavation is backfilled properly. I!
The backfill material that was placed after the January 15, 1993 excavation will be
removed and stored on site to be used for backfill again. Overburden material will
also be stockpiled and reused as backfill to minimize the total amount of backfill
required. j
A
WHF will supervise the proper sampling of the excavated site for characterization
during the excavation process with a PID. Floor and sidewall samples will be
collected for laboratory testing. All laboratory samples will be transported under
chain of custody to a State of California Certified Laboratory. The samples will be
handled according to DEH guidelines.
3.2 Soil Treatment
Based on the information provided, WHF proposes the use of bio-remediation ori
site as a method to treat the diesel contamination in the soils. The area considered
for this treatment is the land owned by the DeBoer Family Trust immediately to
t the north of the existing spoil pile. The existing spoil pile will be incorporated with
this excavation material and treated at the same time.
.j
F
