The entire area of treatment will be divided into a gridwork containing approximately fifty (50) cubic yards. Twenty-four (24) discrete samples, one from r each fifty (50) cubic yard area, will be taken at the end of the sixteen week #, treatment cycle. The soil samples will be collected and containerized in 8 ounce glass jars with Teflon lined lids. Caution.will be taken to insure there is no head space in each sample container. The samples will be labeled and logged on a chain of custody for-sample tracking. 3.3 Groundwater Treatment The contractor will dewater the site with a pump system that will discharge into' poly tank(s) on site. The water will be tested and treated if necessary, then discharged into the local sewer system. The silt in the tanks wilI be removed and transported properly. It is anticipated that the pumping of groundwater will continue for a period of time. The water will be stored and discharged in "batches" while alternating between two separate storage tanks, approximately 15,000 gallons each. The -*;... water will be treated by flow through appropriately sized carbon canisters. WHF will apply for a discharge permit with the City. of Ripon for releases of treated'. water into their sewer system at the site. Piping, manifolds, and underground: -' trenching are included as part of the remedial equipment. r Groundwater pumping will cease when tank readings become "non-detect". Monitoring of the groundwater will continue until San Joaquin County is satisfied. that the contamination of the groundwater has been mitigated, four quarters of F "non-detect" readings are expected. r Water samples collected for analysis will be analyzed using EPA method 3550/LUFT for diesel range petroleum hydrocarbons and EPA method 8020 for BTX&E compounds. The minimum detection limits used for each analyte will be .005 mg/kg for BTX&E and 5.0 mg/kg for diesel. Analyses will be conducted by California Laboratory Services, Inc., a State-certified lab in Rancho Cordova, California. All laboratory samples will be transported under chain of custody to the laboratory.
