12 August 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 03-1042
Page 2 of 3
bsg or until groundwater is encountered.The proposed locations ofthe borings are along the western
and southwestern boundaries of the property, adjacent to Filbert and Myrtle streets (Figure 2).
At the first encountered water-bearing zone,a grab ground water sample will be collected from each
soil boring utilizing hydropunch-equivalent sampling techniques,properly labeled, and transported
in a chilled container under chain-of-custody procedures to a State of California DHS-certified
laboratory for analysis for the following constituents:
• TPH-all by EPA Method 8020 in accordance with EPA Method 8015M;
• Volatile organic compounds,including benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and xylenes(BTEX),
and the fuel additives tertiary butanol(TBA),di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),ethyl tert-butyl ether
(ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), methyl tertiary- butyl ether (MTBE),
1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) and 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB) in accordance with EPA
Method 8260B;
• Cam 17 metals in accordance with EPA Method 6010 and
• Hexavalent chromium by EPA Method 7196.
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist. Procedures to be implemented to advance soil borings, collect groundwater
samples, sample handling, sample analysis, and equipment decontamination are outlined below.
PROCEDURES
Drilling permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(EHD).A Site Health&Safety Plan is currently on file with the EHD.Prior to mobilization,the area
of excavation will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service
Alert.
Each soil boring will be advanced to the top of the ground water table to collect a grab ground water
sample. Once ground water has been encountered,a hydropunch-equivalent water sampling device
will be driven two to three feet into the water-bearing zone.Ground water samples will be collected
with a hydropunch-equivalent water sampling assembly fitted with one-inch diameter 0.010-inch
slotted temporary well screen. Each ground water sample will be extracted by lowering a bailer
through the hollow center of the drive rods and into the screen section.Depending on subsurface and
drilling conditions, grab ground water samples may also be collected directly through the hollow
stem augers using a new disposable bailer.
Advanced GmEnvironmental,Inc.
