(SGI) presents this letter proposing
the shutdown of the ozone injection and soil vapor extraction (SVE) treatment system, and
modifications of the existing air sparge (AS) treatment system located at 110 North Filbert
Street, Stockton, California (Site, Figure 1 and 2). SGI is currently in the process of updating
the conceptual site model and developing a final remedial action plan for the Site as
requested in SJCDEHs letter entitled Del Monte Disco Site, dated February 25, 2008
(Attachment A). SGI proposes to shutdown the existing offsite ozone sparge system and
onsite SVE system, and to modify the AS system, while additional data is collected, the
conceptual site model is updated, remedial alternatives are evaluated and a final remedial
action plan is developed.
The rationale for shutdown and or modifications of the remedial systems is provided below.
Offsite Ozone Soaroe System Shutdown
The current ozone sparge system consists of an ozone generator and sparge curtain (5 triple
nested sparge wells, which are installed approximately 350 feet south of the Site and spaced
approximately 100 feet apart). Locations of the ozone sparge wells are shown on Figure 2.
The ozone sparge wells were originally installed as a downgradient curtain to prevent offsite
migration of 1,2-DCA.
3451-C Vincent Road Telephone: (925)944-2856
Pleasant Hill, California 94523 Facsimile: (925)944-2859
