KLEIN FELDER
6 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
4
f
On May 13, 2002, 6 monitoring wells were sounded for depth to groundwater. The monitoring
wells were purged and sampled. Water samples obtained from each location were submitted for
chemical analysis.
Based on the data obtained during our assessment, the following conclusions and
'j
recommendations have been formulated:
I. Groundwater flow direction at the site is estimated to be towards the southeast at
approximately 0.0004 ft./ft. This is consistent with the historical groundwater data
t collected at the site.
2. Based on the results of the groundwater sampling it appears that the groundwater
1 quality has remained relatively consistent with first sampling event Iast quarter,
showing fluctuating. This is the second sampling event for monitoring wells MW-
DIS-11s, MW-DIS-11d, MW-DIS-12, MW-DIS-13, MW-DIS-14, and MW-DIS-
14d. The results show a slightly elevated concentration of TPH-g in MW-DIS-11s of
76 ug/l. No TPH-g was detected in the other monitoring wells sampled this quarter.
1,2-DCA was detected in two of the six groundwater samples analyzed ranging from
7.2 ug/l (MW-DIS-14s) to 180 ug/I (MW-DIS-IIs). These are consistent results
with compared to the first quarter groundwater sampling results of these wells. The
remaining four groundwater samples showed.non-detect concentrations of 1,2-DCA
above the laboratory reporting limit (ND < 5.0 ug/1). The PMCL for 1,2-DCA is 5
1 ug/l. The detected concentration of 1,2-DCA in MW-DIS-1 Is and MW-DIS-14s
exceeded the PMCL for 1,2-DCA in groundwater.
EDB was not detected in any of the six groundwater samples analyzed. The six
groundwater samples showed non-detect concentrations of EDB above the laboratory
reporting limit (ND < 5.0 ug/1). The water PMCL for EDB is 0.05 ug/l.
No detectable concentrations of EDB were found in any of the monitoring wells
sampled this quarter.
Benzene was detected in the monitoring well MW-DIS-1 Is with a concentration of
0.42 ug/l. The concentration of benzene was shown to remain consistent with the
first quarterly sampling event. The remaining five groundwater samples showed
non-detect concentrations of benzene above the laboratory reporting limit (ND < 0.3
` ug/1). The Primary Maximum Contaminant Level (PMOL) for benzene is I ug/l.
The detected concentration of benzene is below the PMCL for benzene in water in
f monitoring well MW-DIS-11s.
i Toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene was not detected in any of the groundwater
sampled collected from the newly installed monitoring wells MW-DIS-Ild, MW-
DIS-12, MW-DIS-13, MW-DIS-14, and MW-DIS-14d.
.I
12280.MON 1 ST02R134 Page 1 I of 14
©2002,Kleinfelder,Inc July 26,2002
