KLEINFELDER
5.2. ANALYTICAL METHODS AND REPORTED RANGES
Each of the 17 groundwater samples were submitted for analysis. The following is a list of the
4
requested analyses and the reported ranges for groundwater samples obtained from the 17
monitoring wells; MW-DIS-1, MW-DIS-2, MW-DIS-4, MW-DIS-7s, MW-DIS-7d, MW-DIS-9,
MW-DIS-11s, MW-DIS-11d, MW-DIS-12, MW-DIS-13, MW-DIS-14, MW-DIS-14d, SVE-
north, SVE-south,NPI-70', NP1-80', and NP1-90':
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline [non-detect to 180,000 ug/1]
• Benzene [non-detect to 26,000 ug/1]
0 Toluene [non-detect to 50,000 ug/1]
• Ethylbenzene [non-detect to 4,000 ug/1]
• Xylene [non-detect to 25,000]
• 1,2 DCA [non-detect to 1,900 ug/1]
• EDB [non-detect to 1,000 ug/I]
• TBA [all non-detect]
Additionally, MW-DIS-1, MW-DIS-2, MW-DIS-4, MW-DIS-7s, MW-DIS-7d, SVE-north, SVE-
south, NP1-70',NP1-80', and NP1-90' were analyzed for:
• Oxygenates
MTBE,DIPE, ETBE, and TAME [all non-detect]
For a summary of analytical data for the analytes listed above, please see Table 2 beneath the
"Tables"tab of this report.
The detected concentrations of TPH-g found in the groundwater samples collected ranged from
64 ug/l (MW-DIS-11s) to 180,000 ug/l (NP-1-80'). TPH-g was not detected in nine of the
seventeen groundwater samples analyzed above the laboratory detection limit(<50 ug/1).
Benzene was detected in eight of the seventeen groundwater samples analyzed ranging from 0.81
ug/l (MW-DIS-2) to 26,000 ug/l (NP-1-80'). The remaining nine groundwater samples showed
non-detect concentrations of benzene above the laboratory reporting limit (ND < 0.3 ug/1). The
Primary Maximum Contaminant Level (PMOL) for benzene is 1 ug/l. The detected
concentration of benzene is below the PMCL for benzene in water in monitoring well MW-DIS-
2. The remaining seven detected concentrations of benzene exceed the MCL for benzene in
groundwater.
Toluene was detected in seven of the seventeen groundwater samples analyzed ranging from 0.64
ug/l (MW-DIS-2) to 50,000 ug/l (NP-1-80'). The remaining ten groundwater samples showed
i
non-detect concentrations of toluene above the laboratory reporting limit (ND < 0.3 ug/1). The
PMCL for toluene is 150 ug/l. The detected concentrations of toluene are below the PMCL for
12280.MON/2002R394 Page 10 of 15
2002,Kleinfelder,Inc May 10,2002
