Dennis Phillips (2432 E. Harding Way, Stockton) is a street
preacher. He has preached across the street from the church.
There is a liquor store right on the corner. There are panhandlers
and drug users and prostitutes. He is opposed to the project.
Matthew Upton (1299 White Owl Lane, Stockton) said the only people
for this application are from outside the community. Children will
walk by this site. There is no evidence that this kind of
operation will improve the area. He urged the Commission to deny
the project.
Ruby Walker (2629 Waterloo, Stockton) said she lived in the trailer
park. She is afraid of the people who would come to the project
site.
Sherry Oneto (6465 Pacific Avenue, #107, Stockton) asked the
Commission to deny the project because it will increase the crime.
Minister H. L. Hyder, Sr. (2612 E. Oneda Street, Stockton) spoke in
opposition to the project.
June Young (1456 N. Golden Gate, Stockton) works for August School.
She said the project would hurt the children.
Gaylen Corden (2433 E. Stewart, Stockton) said she has lived in
this neighborhood all her life. Waterloo Road is not the right
place for this project.
Issac Rojas Natu (9749 Treetop Drive, Stockton) said the proposed
use is not in the best interests of the community. Most of the
people do not want this here. He asked the Commissioners if they
would accept this in their community.
Leticia Orihuela (7710 Peppertree Drive, Stockton) said she has a
grandmother who lives in this neighborhood. She knows this is a
land use issue, but there are human beings involved. She asked the
Commission to deny the project.
Curtis Riggins said he is the captain of the neighborhood watch.
The merchants in the neighborhood are against this project.
Property values will drop. People will move out of the
neighborhood.
Fred Fitzgerald (1526 Sierra Lane, Stockton) said this project
should be placed somewhere else.
Lewis Stallworth, Sr. , (1107 S. Burkett, Stockton) said his church
was given a permit with certain restrictions. He could not
understand why they would want to move them out and put in a juice
bar.
PC MINUTES '8- PC: 1-18-96
