Ms. Margaret Lagorio
San Joaquin County
July 24, 1995
Page 3
Four soil gas samples will be collected from around the perimeter of the concrete wash
area, the drain to the pond, and in the ditch behind the storage area. Soil gas samples
will be field screened using a PID. Soil samples will be collected from adjacent
locations and will be analyzed for TPH with characterization of peaks and CAM 5
metals.
Water Retention Pond
The water retention pond receives surface water runoff from the entire facility. Any
compounds present in surface runoff will eventually end up in the pond and may
infiltrate to groundwater.
One soil boring will be drilled to groundwater, anticipated to be at approximately 130
feet bgs and one groundwater sample collected using the Hydropunch technique. The
groundwater sample will be analyzed for TPH with characterization of peaks,
herbicides, pesticides, and VOCs.
Former Waste Oil Storage Area
This area was used for draining oil from parts and storage of used oil prior to
recycling. Substantial soil staining is present at this location.
Soil gas samples will be collected from two locations in the stained area and will be
field screened with a PID. Soil samples will be collected at adjacent locations. Sample
locations will be in the center and at the edges of the visibly stained areas. Soil
samples will be analyzed for TPH with characterization of peaks and CAM five metals.
Paint Storage Area
Paints, gasoline, and solvents are stored in a converted sea/land shipping container.
One soil gas sample will be collected near the doorway and field screened using a PID.
One soil sample will be collected from an adjacent location and analyzed for 17-Title
22 metals and TPH with characterization of peaks.
Battery Storage Area
Batteries are currently stored on a pallet in the unpaved storage area. One soil sample
will be collected within six inches of the ground surface and analyzed for total lead.
South and East Perimeters
The southern and eastern perimeters of the project site are used for employee parking
and storage of miscellaneous parts and equipment. Past usage is unknown. Soil gas
samples will be collected from five locations along the perimeter and will be field
V1111IHYDRO-SERRCH, IMC. A Tetra Tech Company
