1, a
at approximately 11.5 feet below grade. Hydrocarbon constituents were detected in groundwater
samples from monitoring wells MW3 and MW4 subsequent to development (Tables 2).
A detailed description of work performed prior to 1991 is included in RESNA s. December 5,
$ 1990 "Preliminary Report - Assessment of Potential Soil and Groundwater Contamination".
On February 28, 1992, the 5,000-gallon u/g diesel tank was removed from the site by Falcon
Energy Associates. RESNA was present in an advisory capacity. A soil sample collected from
beneath the center of the tank indicated 340 ppm diesel contamination was present at 18 feet
below ground surface. Free Petroleum product was noted floating on groundwater within the
excavation. A report summarizing the tank removal and sampling is included in Appendix L
ii
r> During the first quarter of 1992 RESNA was retained by the City to conduct quarterly
groundwater monitoring and sampling of the site monitoring wells (MWi-MW4). During the
calendar year of 1992 laboratory analysis of wells MW1 and MW2 did not indicate BTEX or
TPHD was present at/or above method detection limits. TPHD was detected at 66 parts per
f billion (ppb) in well MW3 during the fourth quarter 1992 (December 9, 1992) analyses (Table
2). RESNA has periodically bailed floating free product from well MW4 (Table 3). Free
aproduct is stored on-site in DOT approved drums pending appropriate disposal.
a Daring a scheduled meeting with the City on December 14, 1992, PHS/EHD requested
additional work at the project site to further define the lateral extent of soil and groundwater
r== contamination.
3.0 SITE SETTING
The project site is situated on level terrain comprised of Quaternary to Recent alluvial sediments..
is
F= The site is bounded on the southern property line by the westerly flowing Smith's Canal (Figure
1). Groundwater flow is currently north to northwest, away from the canal. The water table
REPORT8/WP-1242.FNL 2
G.f;
:f
