NFAU
beneath the site is relatively shallow, approximately 15 feet below grade. Near surface materials
in the area consist of interbedded sands, silts, clays, and gravels. As is typical of alluvial
environments, higher permeability zones representing former stream channels occur as sinuous
or lenticular features. Locations of wells within one mile of the project site provided by the
Department of Water Resources (DWR) are plotted on Figure 3. The closest well to the tank
location is located on the property approximately 85 feet north of the former diesel tank. This
well is not currently in use but was previously used to irrigate city property to the north of the
k :# pumping plant. This eight inch diameter irrigation well is approximately 100 feet deep but
specific construction details could not be obtained.
The non-functioning pump from this well was removed and the well sampled on March 18,
3
1992, for diesel hydrocarbon constituents and fecal coliform per requirements of the PHS/EHD.
Only total coliform was detected at 41 ppm. All other analytes were not detected (Table 2).
The well is scheduled to be destroyed during the First Quarter of 1993.
>> 4.0 PROPOSED WORK-PHASE H
 4.1 Methods and Procedures
To further assess the lateral and vertical extent of soil and groundwater impaction, RESNA
proposes to drill and sample a total of nine soil borings at the site, two of which will be
- converted to groundwater monitoring wells. In addition, discrete groundwater samples will be
collected from four of the remaining seven soil borings using the hydropunch technology. The
proposed boring/well locations are plotted on Figure 4.
,., One soil boring each will be advanced near existing wells MW1, MW2, and MW3 to investigate
F soil contaminants detected in those areas during RESNA's initial investigation. The proposed
groundwater monitoring wells and hydropunch samples will be positioned to further define the
lateral extent of the floating Product near well MW4 and potential groundwater contamination
in the upgradient and downgradient directions from the former tank. j
REMRTSIWP-JM.FNL 3
4
lk- 4
