Changes in sea level and
subsequent uplifts resulted in later deposition of sediments
in a continental environment. The recent sediments have been.
deposited by flooding of the major rivers, the San Joaquin,
Calaveras, Mokelumne and Sacramento Rivers. These rivers
flow together in the Sacramento-San . Joaquin Delta which
presently occupies the area between Stockton and Antioch.
B. Site Geologic Conditions
In general, the surface soils found at the points
explored consist primarily of sandy silts. These sandy
silts contain fine grained sands and are well sorted, moist
and firm. The depth of these surface soils varies from
approximately 7 to 9 feet. Beneath the surface soils,
1 interbedded strata or lenses of wet to saturated clay, silty
clay and silty sands, with clay being the primary earth
material.
VIII.
