Based on this most recent groundwater elevation measurement,
;f depth to groundwater ranges between approximately 13.76 and 15.79 feet below
grade (Table 1). The flow direction beneath the site was calculated to be to the
northeast with a variable gradient. Groundwater contours for August of 1999 are
t presented on Plate 2.
Prior to sampling, the depth to groundwater was measured in each well using a
Ge_ Enpin, ering Solinst electronic water level indicator. The depth to groundwater measurements
' were used to calculate the volume of water in each well. Once calculated,
En,,incznn,!at;dc>s,Y approximately three well volumes of water were purged from each well using a
two-inch submersible pump until temperature,pH, and conductivity readings
i•t,:f,t""rnF"i c"•°•itis`; stabilized and/or the water cleared of sediment. The water samples were then
collected through the sampling pump. Sample water pumped from the well was
poured into appropriate sample containers provided by the laboratory.
`
,n,ruction lwvv ui"n The samples were immediately placed in an ice-chest with ice and submitted under
chain-of-custody to a California-certified laboratory for analysis of Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline using EPA test method 8015
modified,Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Total Xylenes(BTEX) and Methyl-
tertiary-Butyl Ether(MtBE) using EPA test method 8020/602.-
W50
020/602.W50 tndzvtm' Blvd. The submersible pump was cleaned with a solution of Liqui-nox and water prior to
WeSt SAc 1',Imn nn, purging each well to minimize the potential for cross-contamination. In addition,
the wells were sampled in order of increasing concentration based on previous
. t"saai sampling results. All water removed during sampling and purging operations was
91OA72-1434 placed in sealed and labeled 55-gallon drums and stored on site.
Fj%91&iY_.565
