WALLACE • KUHL
January 13, 1998 1
&ASSOCIATES INC.
Mr, Steve Jerkins •' ,` P; 13
Crystal Creamery
rY
1013 D Street
Sacramento, California 95 814
Quarterly Status Report
404 WEST FREMONT STREET
Stockton, California
WKA No. 1628.08
Dear Mr. Jerkins,
As required by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, we are submitting
this quarterly status report for the subject property located at 404 West Fremont
Street in Stockton, California (Plate 1).
Most recent ground water elevation measurements of the seven on-site monitoring
wells (MW1 through MW7) and city of Stockton Well SMW2) were obtained on
December 30, 1997. Based on this most recent ground water elevation
measurement, ground water ranges between approximately 17 and 18 feet below
grade (Table 1). The pow direction beneath the site was calculated to be to the
., northeast with a variable gradient. Groundwater contours for December of 1998
are presented on Plate 2.
Prior to sampling, the depth to groundwater was measured in each well using a
Solist electronic water level indicator. The depth to groundwater measurements
were used to calculate the volume of water in each well. Once calculated,
,., approximately three well volumes of water were purged from each well using a
two-inch submersible pump until temperature, pH, and conductivity readings
stabilized and/or the water cleared of sediment. The water samples were then
collected through the sampling pump. Sample water pumped from the well was
poured into appropriate sample containers provided by the laboratory.
The samples were immediately placed in an ice-chest with ice and submitted under
M r, chain-of-custody to a California-certified laboratory for analysis of Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline using EPA test method 8015 modified, Benzene,
Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Total Xylenes(BTEX) and Methyl-tertiary-Butyl Ether
(MtBE) using EPA test method 8020/602. The October samples were additionally
analyzed for oxygenated compounds using EPA test method 8260 at the request of
Steve Sasson from San Joaquin County Public Health Services.
k4,
The submersible pump was cleaned with a solution of Liqui-nox and water prior to
purging each well to minimize the potential for cross-contamination. In addition,
