404 WEST FREMONT STREET
WKA No. 1628.08
s January 13, 1998
ILW Page 2
the wells were sampled in order of increasing concentration based on previous sampling results.
All water removed during sampling and purging operations was placed in sealed and labeled 55-
gallon drums and stored on site.
Analysis of water samples MW2, SMW2, MW3 and MW6 again revealed no detectable
concentrations of TPH or BTEX..
Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the water samples from wells NMI,
MW4 and MW5. Review of historic data reveals no specific trend with regard to TPH
concentrations in these wells. However, both TPH and BTEX have increased dramatically in
MW5, (a former perimeter welI). No MtBE or other oxygenates were detected in any of the
monitoring wells. The newly installed MW7 (located north of MW5 across West Fremont Street)
was first sampled on December 30, 1997. Though analysis revealed no detectable concentrations
of TPH in the new well, a small quantity of benzene (1.4 ug/L) was reported. A summary of
analytical results for ground water samples obtained from the six on-site and one off-site
monitoring wells are included as Table 2. Complete analytical reports and chain-of-custody
documentation are included in the appendix.
Additional field work completed during this time frame included the construction of monitoring
well MW7 northerly of MW5 across West Fremont Street and three soil vapor extraction/air
sparging wells constructed in preparation for a vapor, extraction pilot study. All of the above
wells were completed on November 20, 1997. Analytical results have not been received.
The next quarter of ground water sampling is scheduled for February 1998 and will include
elevation data and groundwater samples from the new wells. The vapor extraction pilot test is
tentatively.scheduled for early February. Our report for next quarter will be transmitted upon
completion of laboratory testing.
Wallace ■ Kuhl & Associates, Inc.
Ku alasek
S 'or Hydrogeologist
KB:EH:sdm
Copy to: Mr. Steve Sasson, San Joaquin County PHS
K\Crysta11162"8.yt4
WALLACE-KUHL
1"wl-p- &ASSOCIATES INC.
