0 0 <br /> CRYSTAL CREAM&BUTTER COMPANY <br /> WKA No 1628 07 <br /> June 5, 1996 <br /> Page 6 <br /> The results of the air sparging test will be analyzed to estimate the radius of influence as well as <br /> the number and location of the proposed sparging points Data from this test will be used to <br /> determine if air sparging is a viable option for remediation of the site The radius of influence of <br /> the sparging point will be determined by measuring mounding of the water table, if any <br /> The samples will be submitted along with a travel blank, under chain-of-custody to a California- <br /> certified Iaboratory for analysis of TPH as gasoline and BTEX <br /> C <br /> A vapor extraction pilot test will be performed to collect site-specific data for use in estimating <br /> Dw the effective radius influence Equipment utilized for the vapor extraction portion of the test will <br /> consist of (1) a 5 5-horsepower skid mounted regenerative blower with a rated capacity of 280 <br /> standard cubic foot per minute (scfm), (2) instrumentation for measuring air velocity air flow and <br /> vacuum pressure, (3) polyvinyl chloride 2jping, fittings, and wellhead connections, and (4) air <br /> sample-eellectio a ui ment The vapor extraction unit will be used to induce air flow and <br /> ------- <br /> . vacuum in the vapor extraction well Air flow rate in the extraction well will be determined by <br /> measuring the pressure differential across an averaging pitot tube The observation wells will be <br /> used to measure vacuum pressure during the pilot test Existing monitoring wells MWl through <br /> MW4 may also be used as observation wells during the pilot test if depth to water is below the <br /> well screens <br /> Vacuum pressure versus time will be measured in the extraction well and observation wells using <br /> pressure gauges The combined air sparging/vapor extraction pilot test will be conducted for <br /> approximately 8 hours A photo-ionization detector (PID) will be used to measure influent <br /> hydrocarbon vapor concentrations (off-gas) in the vapor extraction well Soil gas samples will be <br /> collected from the vapor extraction well in 1-liter tedlar bags at specific interval during the test <br /> The samples will be placed in an ice chest and submitted under chain-of-custody to a California- <br /> certified laboratory for analysis of TPH as gasoline using Modified EPA method 8015 and for <br /> BTEX using EPA method 8020 A 175-pound vapor-phase carbon canister will be used to treat <br /> off-gas emissions during the test <br /> WALLACE KUHL <br /> Recycled paper. &ASSOCIATES INC <br />
