(Apex), is pleased to provide Colberg, Inc. (Colberg), this workplan for <br /> limited subsurface investigation at the subject site(Figure 1). The proposed 'investigation includes <br /> driving tento fourteen probes on site (Figure 2) and collecting soil and groundwater samples from <br /> each prober The purpose of the investigation is to assess the vertical and lateral extent of <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, motor oil, and lead in the shallow soil beneath the site and the <br /> possibility of those contaminants impacting the groundwater. <br /> PREVIOUS WORK <br /> On May 16 1986Jim.7horpe Oil, (JT), removed four diesel underground storage tanks <br /> (UST)from the site. another UST, which had contained gasoline, was removed in 1988. <br /> In February1993, Telic Engineering Corporation(TEC) of Stockton, California, performed a <br /> Phase 1 investigation of the subject site and the surrounding area in a 1 mile radius. TECs <br /> findings are summarized in their report " Phase 1 Preliminary Hazardous Materials Site <br /> Assessment',' dated July 21, 1993. <br /> PROPOSED INVESTIGATION <br /> Apex proposes to drive ten to fourteen soil probes at the site(Figure 2). Apex will collect soil <br /> samples fr6m each probe, and selected groundwater samples from probe locations around the <br /> former UST locations. All fieldwork will be conducted according to the Apex SOP included in <br /> Attachment 1. <br /> ,f, <br />
