r
March 18, 1998 DRAFT
Mr. Luis Lechich
Valley Showcase
P.O. Box 881
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Valley Showcase
913 W. Fremont Street
Stockton, California
COST ESTIMATE FOR PILOT TEST STUDIES
AND CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN
Dear Mr. Lechich:
JJW Geosciences Inc. is pleased to present this cost estimate for performaince of
remediation pilot test studies and preparation of a Corrective Action Plan for the above-
referenced site. A detailed cost breakdown has been provided in the accompanying
Cost Estimate Worksheet. A copy of JJW Geosciences 1990 Fee Schedule has also
been included.
At the request of Mr. Bill Hunter, of William Hunter&Associates, JJW Geosciences has
reviewed the work performed at the s4e to-date. We then discussed our findings and
conclusions with both Mr. Hunter, and with Mr. Steve Sasson and Mr. Jeff Wong, of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Heath Division (San Joaquin County). Results of
our review suggests that further work is needed at the site before case closure can be
considered Mr. Sasson and Mr. Wong have both indicated their concurrence with this
assessment.
This conclusion is based on the following:
• Recent groundwater sample results have suggested the possible presence of
contamination in monitoring well MW-4, the down-gradient control well. In
reviewing the historical groundwater data for the site, JJW Geosciences
concurs with Mr. Hunter that groundwater samples and/or sample results for
monitoring wells MW-3 and MW-4 may have been transposed. JJW
Geosciences recommends that split samples from these two wells be
submitted to independent laboratories during the next sampling episode to
better ascertain whether well MW-4 has truly been impacted. Should
subsequent sampling confirm that well MW4 has been impacted, then it
would provide conclusive evidence that the groundwater contaminant plume
is expanding, as suspected.
