k'q KLEINFELDER
File No . 20-2182-24
February 20, 1990
FIELD EXPLORATIONS
The field explorations for this investigation consisted of drilling
5 test borings on January 25, 1990 to depths of approximately 10
to 15 feet below existing ground surface and performing one 3 foot
deep percolation test at each lot on January 31 and February 1,
1990 . The test borings and percolation test holes were drilled
with a truck-mounted drill rig using a 6-inch diameter continuous-
flight auger under the direction of a representative of our firm.
A continuous log of the soils encountered in each boring was
maintained. Relatively undisturbed samples of the soils
encountered were obtained at various intervals for visual
examination, classification, and laboratory testing. Soil samples
were obtained by driving a 2-inch inside diameter sampler into the
soil using a 140-pound hammer falling approximately 30 inches . The
number of blows required to advance the sampler into the soil are
presented on the Logs of Borings, Plates III through VII, at the
corresponding sample locations . The percolation tests were
performed according to San Joaquin County guidelines, and the
procedure and results are discussed in a following section of this
report.
SOIL CONDITIONS
The surface at 4 of the locations explored was covered with
approximately 6 to 12 inches of silt, clay, sand and gravel fill
that contained some debris . The surface fill materials were
underlain by dark grey-brown silty clays that extended to depths
varying from approximately 2 to 4 feet below existing ground
3
