L �! <br /> �� Ij <br /> i The WOT was installed in the late 1980s. It is a double-walled fibe"rgiass-clad steel tank with a continuous <br /> leak-monitoring system. The underground piping extends about 13 feet from the top of the WOT to a <br /> I" vertical fill pipe and sink inside the Fleet Services building (Figures�3 and 4). There have been no <br /> reported leakages of the WOT system since its installation. <br /> 2.2 October 2003 Fuel Dispenser Under Dispenser Containment Upgrade and Waste Oil Tank <br /> Piping Upgrade <br /> i <br /> P� 9 P9 <br /> In October 2003, Paradiso Mechanical, Inc. (San Leandro, CA) per upgrades to comply with State <br /> �# t <br /> Water Resources Control Board Underground Storage Tank Regulations Title 23 Division 3 Chapter 16 <br /> t <br />� California Code of Regulations (CCR) Senate Bill (SB)989. They eplaced the under dispenser <br /> ,r t <br /> containment (UDC) pans beneath the three fuel dispensers and replaced the original double-walled WOT <br /> I <br /> piping with enhanced double-walled piping. During the upgrade,the subcontractor, Geo-Logic, collected [[ <br /> five grab samples of native soil (Figure 4): one sample beneath each dispenser(UNL1, UNL2, and Diesel, 4 <br /> collected at a depth of 4 feet)and two samples (P1 and P2, collected at depths of 4.5 and 4 feet) along <br /> the WOT piping trench. Ms. Michelle-Le of EHD witnessed the sampling.�`Following the upgrades, the <br /> excavations were backfilled with clean imported fill, and the surface concrete was repaired. One 55-gallon <br />{ drum containing the old fiberglass WOT piping was transported to Kettleman Hills Landfill. <br /> kms` The UNL1 and UNL2 samples were analyzed for the following cons}tituents"of potential concern (COPC): <br /> gasoline; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX); and five fuel oxygenates including methyl <br /> tertiary butyl ether(MTBE). The soil sample from the diesel dispenser was analyzed for diesel, gasoline, <br /> and MTBE. The P1 and P2 samples were analyzed for the five leaking underground fuel tank (LUFT) <br /> metals (cadmium, chromium, lead, nickel, and zinc)and for volatile11compounds (VOCs). <br /> { <br /> Tables 1 A and 1 B present summaries of the analytical results. <br />{ ` 2.3 October 2003 Gasoline Dispensers Grab Soil Sample Results <br /> Geo-Logic observed a slight hydrocarbon odor at the western gasoline dispenser(UNL1)excavation at a I <br /> four feet. The UNL1 sample did not <br /> depth of two feet but did not observe odor at the sample depth of fo <br /> i ` <br /> contain gasoline or BTEX. It contained 1.5 milligrams per kilogram,(mg1Kg) MTBE, but none of the other <br /> four oxygenates. Geo-Logic did not observe any field evidence of hydrocarbon contamination at the <br /> 1 western gasoline dispenser(UNL2)excavation. The UNL2 sample did not contain gasoline or BTEX.
