• All paint, solvent, and spray finish containers are kept closed and away from <br />sources of heat or flame. <br />• All valves are kept closed when not in use. <br />• Heaters (except approved heat lamps) are not used in spray booths or near <br />accumulations of combustible residues. <br />• Work areas are kept free of combustible residues or dusts, and all rags and <br />waste are placed in closed metal containers. <br />5. Vehicle Fueling 0 erations <br />• Motor vehicles are fueled only with approved pumps from portable or <br />underground tanks, or from approved 1-5 gallon safety containers. Open <br />containers are never used. <br />• No smoking or open flames are allowed in the area, and permanent fueling <br />stations are posted with "No Smoking" and other appropriate warning signs. <br />• All vehicle engines are shut off during fueling operations. <br />• The manually -operated pump master switch is located 15 to 75 feet from <br />permanent fueling stations and is labeled "EMERGENCY PU^AP SHUTOFF." <br />• Where applicable, vapor recovery equipment is regularly maintained, tested, <br />and inspected. <br />• Fuel tanker trucks are parked at least 50 feet from any building or other <br />vehicles (except during fueling operations), and all valves are locked closed <br />when the truck is unattended. <br />• Hose ends are placed in containers when disconnected after storage <br />tank -filling and tanker truck -filling to prevent spills by capturing any remaining <br />fluid. <br />• Tank -filling and vehicle fueling operations are supervised at all times. <br />6. Transporting, Loading, and Unloading <br />• All loads are securely tied down and incompatible materials are separated in <br />accordance with Department of Transportation regulations. <br />• Containers are tested for product tightness by sealing and holding them for <br />24 hours, and then are inspected for leaks prior to transportation. <br />• Hazardous materials are not transported within the vehicle cab. <br />
