Appendix A - Historical Background
River City Petroleum and Connell Motor Lift Truck
Page 7 of 14
clayey silt to silty clay was encountered over most other depths
Based on the data from CPT soil borings P30 through P33, supplemented with subsequent soil
borings MW-1 through MW-6,stratigraphic cross section A-A'was constructed, which depicts the
general lfthology north to south across the suspected release area
Fourteen soil samples collected from the CPT soil borings were analyzed for TPH-g,TPH-d,BTEX,
and fuel additives including MTBE and VOCs TPH-g,TPH-d and TPH-ss were detected in the soil
samples from CPT P32 as follows
• TPH-ss and TPH-g were detected at concentrations as high as 2,300 milligram per kilogram
(mg/kg) in soil sample P32-60, TPH-d was detected in the same sample at a concentration
of 1,300 mg/kg
• TPH-g and TPH-ss were both detected in soil sample P32-70 at a concentration of 1,800
mg/kg, TPH-d was detected, In the same sample, at a concentration of 2,000 mg/kg TPH-g
and TPH-ss were detected in soil sample P32-78 at concentrations of 41 and 72 mg/kg,
respectively TPH-d was not detected In the same sample
• Toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene were detected, In the above samples, at concentrations as
high as 2 6 mg/kg The volatile organic compound methanol was detected In one soil sample,
P32-60, at a concentration of 310,000 micrograms per kilogram (µg/kg)
• Oxygenated fuel additives were not detected in the soil samples analyzed
A total of five "grab" ground water samples were collected from CPT P30 through P33 and
submitted for laboratory analysis for the above mentioned constituents
• TPH-g and TPH-ss were detected In the grab water sample collected from boring P32 at 60
feet bsg, at concentrations of 120,000 micrograms per liter(µg11) TPH-g and TPH-ss were
detected in water samples collected from boring P32 at 100 feet bsg,at concentrations of 440
and 140 µg/l, respectively
• TPH-d was detected In water samples collected from boring P32 at 60 and 100 feet bsg, at
concentrations of 230 and 330 µg/l, respectively
• TPH-g and TPH-ss were detected In water samples collected from boring P33 at 80 feet bsg,
at concentrations of 680 and 210 pg/1, respectively TPH-d was detected in the same water
sample collected from boring P33 at a concentration of 230 gg/l
• BTEX compounds were detected in the ground water samples at concentrations as high as
760 µg/l (P32-60, xylene) Benzene was detected in the ground water sample from P32-60
at a concentration of 96 µg/l
Advanced GenEnvironmental,Inc
