h
by
Appendix A - Historical Background
River City Petroleum and Connell Motor Lift Truck
Page 8 of 14
• 1,2-DCE was detected at a concentration of 14 gg/l in the water sample collected from P30
at a depth of 100 feet bsg and 1,2-DCA was detected at a concentration of 25 tig/1 in the grab
ground water sample collected from P33 at approximately 80 feet bsg
• No other petroleum hydrocarbon constituents or fuel oxygenated compounds were detected
by the laboratory analyses
January 2001 - Installation of Ground Water Monitoring Wells
On 24 through 26 January 2001, seven soil borings were established for the collection of soil
samples and installation of ground water monitoring wells Fourteen soil samples collected from the
monitoring well pilot soil borings were analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX, and fuel additives
including MTBE and HVOCs,petroleum hydrocarbons and HVOC's were not detected in the soil
samples
iMarch 2004 -Installation of Soil Vapor Extraction Wells
On 26 through 30 April 2004,nineteen separate soil borings were advanced at the sit, utilizing 8 25-
inch diameter hollow-stem augers to advance borings VW6A through VW 15B Pilot bonngs VW6A
through VW 15A(shallow wells)were completed as shallow SVE wells, from approximately 10 feet
to 30 feet bsg and pilot borings VW6B through VW13B and VW15B (deep well) were completed
as deep SVE wells screened from approximately 35 feet to 50 feet bsg and vapor well VW14B
(deepest vapor well) was completed as a deep SVE well screened from approximately 35 feet to
55 feet bsg A total of forty-nine soil samples were analyzed for TPH-g,BTEX,five fuel additives
and lead scavengers EDB and 1,2-DCA, the following is a summary of the significant results
• TPH-g was detected in 34 soil samples collected from borings VW8,VW 12 through VW 15
(over 90 %) and not detected in samples from borings VW6, VW7, VW10 nor VW11,
except for the sample from 50 feet bsg in boring VW6 and 35 feet bsg in boring VW 10 The
maximum concentration of TPH-g was detected in boring VW15 from 35 feet bsg, at
9,400 mg/kg
• Each soil boring with detections, had a set of samples with concentrations greater than
1,000 mg/kg collected from either above or beneath 35 feet bsg, except the samples from
boring VW 12,which had detections above 1,000 mg/kg in both the upper and lower zones
Generally, sand was present above 35 feet bsg and silt was observed below 35 feet, which
may be the cause of higher concentrations, below the 35 feet bsg division, with low
concentrations detected above 35 feet from the same borings
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
