t
' 25 February 2005
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0500
' 3.1. PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
The following procedures will be performed prior to any drilling activities:
• Prepare a Site Health and Safe Plan in accordance with the Occupational Safe and Health
p Safety p Safety
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities - Prepared by National Institute for
' Occupational Safety and Health,Occupational Safety and Health Administration,U.S.Coast
Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, October 1985.
' • Notify the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department EHD a minimum of 48
hours prior to commencement of any work, while securing proper city/county soil boring or
well permits. AGE will notify the CVRWQCB a minimum of 72 hours prior to
commencement of any work.
• All drilling locations will be marked at least 48 hours in advance for an Underground Service
Alert (USA) check of underground utilities or pipes.
'• 3.2. PILOT BORINGS AND MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
' Multi-level monitoring well pilot borings will be advanced utilizing a truck-mounted,hollow-stem
drill rig equipped with 8.25-inch diameter hollow-stem augers, with a 4-inch interior diameter.
Cuttings generated during drilling activities will be stockpiled and rinseate will be containerized in
properly labeled Department of Transportation(DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums,and stored on-site
in an area lacking public access. Disposal alternatives will be evaluated based on results of soil and
water analysis.
3.2.1. Multi-Level Ground Water Monitoring Well Completion
' Five soil pilot borings will be established (drilled)to the proposed 200 feet bsg for completion as
`multi-level' ground water wells. This will allow for the completion of the well in the deepest
' interval which has demonstrated 1,2-DCA and TPH contamination.
Each `multi-level' well will be completed in a single soil boring utilizing 1.7-inch outer diameter
' polyethylene tubing containing segregated vertical chambers that can be individually completed as
monitoring wells at different depths. The inner tubing consists of seven '/z-inch diameter or four
larger diameter Teflon tubes partitioned into separate chambers running the length of the casing.
Each multi-level well casing will be prefabricated prior to installation with the proposed perforated
intervals; a stainless steel 0.02-inch screen will be wrapped around four 3/8-inch perforation of the
' tubing for each screen interval.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
