The XIGAT'" Concept and Operation Manual <br /> -1-1X- FLOW <br /> Loading membrane elements <br /> Installing XIGATm elements in a pressure vessel should be done by two +� <br /> people. The items required for the installment of membrane elements in <br /> for example a 6m pressure vessel are: 4 membrane elements, 3 <br /> interconnectors, 2 end-connectors, 16 0-rings [35.00x4.00 mm], and <br /> some fill-rings. <br /> First read the instructions of the membrane housing manufacturer - <br /> carefully on how to open and close the end-caps of the membrane `` <br /> housing. Lubricate the 0-rings with glycerine (purity > 99.7% glycerine) <br /> and place them on the connectors. Avoid damages to the element at all <br /> times. Note the element serial number engraved on the PVC shell. 1 ♦ <br /> Gently push the connectors into the central permeate tube of the IL <br /> membrane elements. Make sure the 0-rings are not displaced. Remove <br /> the end-cap(s) of the pressure vessel. <br /> Push the membrane element(with an end-connector) halfway into the <br /> membrane housing. The next element should be fitted with an <br /> interconnector and is connected to the first by pushing the <br /> interconnector into the central tube of the first element. Hold the first <br /> element firmly when doing this. Make sure the 0-rings are not <br /> displaced. Push the second element also only half-way into the <br /> membrane housing. <br /> i <br /> Repeat this procedure until the last element is pushed half-way into the <br /> membrane housing. Do not pull the installed elements as the wrings of <br /> the inter-connectors might be displaced. If absolutely necessary remove <br /> the elements by pushing them from the other side of the membrane <br /> housing. Make sure that the serial numbers of all the elements in the <br /> membrane housing are on the same side. - <br /> q i <br /> Lubricate the 0-rings with glycerine and place them on the end- + T <br /> connectors. Push the end-connector gently into the central permeate <br /> tube of the membrane element and make sure the 0-rings are not <br /> displaced. When all membrane elements are inside the membrane <br /> housing the end-caps should be bolted. Any play between end-cap and <br /> end-connector is filled with fill-rings. <br /> CAPF-XIGA-0143 <br />
