Soil Suitability I Nitrate Loading Study Irerracon
Buddhist Temple Proposed Dormitory ■ Stockton, California
July 11, 2019 tu Terracon Project No. NA177056
1.5.1 Soil Boring Locations
The boring locations were marked by the client near the northern site boundary, north of the
existing leach field area. Terracon was unable to handauger borings between the existing storage
containers due to refusal; therefore, boring 131 was advanced south of the eastern most storage
container. Boring B2 was advanced north of the storm water retention basin.
1.5.2 Soil Boring Dimensions
Borings B1 and 132 were advanced with a 4 inch diameter hand auger to a depth of 3.5 feet bgs.
1.5.3 Soil Lithology Observed
The following table presents a log of the soil boring.
Table 4.
Summary of Soil Lithology.
Boring Depth Interval (feet) Soil Type Unified Soil
Classification
B1 0-3.5 Silty sand, fine grained, brown, SM
moist
0-2.0 Silty sand, fine grained, dark SM
brown, moist
B2 ...... ..................................................................................... ---------- --.._.........- ---.._................
2.0 to 2.5 Sandy silt, light brown, moist ML
2.5 to 3.5 Silt with sand, dark brown, moist ML
1.5.4 Discussion of Soil Lithology
A visual inspection of the shallow soils from the test hole points to favorable conditions for shallow
septic disposal due to the silty-.sandy soils at leach field depths (3 to 3.5 feet bgs). In general,
uncemented coarse-grained soil has a greater potenfiaTfor percolation than fine-grained or
cemented soil.
Terracon searched the Department of Water Resources online Well Completion Records for
additional information regarding soil lithology within 0.5 miles of the site. The following wells were
identified nearest the site.
Table 5.
Well Completion Reports
Well File Number Location Depth
feet
03N06E31 097949 Thornton Road, '/2 mile north of Eight Mile, '/2 mile west of Thornton Road 176
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 11
