Soil Suitability/ Nitrate Loading Study Irerracon
Buddhist Temple Proposed Dormitory ■ Stockton, California
July 11, 2019 ■Terracon Project No. NA177056
Well File Number Location Depth
feet
03N06E31 017446 Thornton Road, south of Devries Road, end of road west side 400
03N06E31 43093 Thornton Road,'/z mile north of Eight Mile Road, '/z mile west side 170
03N06E31 22652 Thornton Road,'/z mile north of Eight Mile Road, west side 515
Based on a review of the Well Completion records, soils in the vadose zone (0 to 20 feet bgs),
consist primarily of clay, sand, and/or silty sandy clay strata. Refer to Appendix G for copies of
the Well Completion records.
1.6 Percolation Test Information
1.6.1 Percolation Test Locations
The percolation tests were conducted on the northern portion of the site in the vicinity of the
proposed leach field. Refer to Section 1.5.1 and Appendix A, Exhibit 2.
1.6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
Two shallow percolation tests B1 and B2 were conducted on May 10, 2019.
1.6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
Two soil borings were excavated to a depth of 3.5 feet bgs on May 9, 2019 using a 4.0-inch
diameter hand auger. Approximately six inches of "pea gravel" was placed in the bottom of the
open boring. A 2.0-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations towards the bottom was installed
on top of the gravel. Pre-saturation consisted of a water column approximately 1 foot over gravel
on the same day.
1.6.4 Condition of Borings after Pre-saturation
May 10, 2019, after the initial 24-hour pre-saturation period, both borings were found to be dry
and intact on the day of testing.
1.6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
Terracon followed EHD percolation test procedure #2 as both borings were dry after the 24 hour
pre-saturation period. The percolation tests had a duration of four hours and readings were
recorded every 30 minutes. Measurement of the water level during the percolation test was from
a fixed reference point on the PVC casing using a calibrated Solinst electric water level detector
with a depth accuracy of 0.01 feet. All tabulated values on the field data sheet are in decimal feet.
A copy of the field data is included in Appendix E.
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■Reliable 12
