The depth to water in each
well and the total depth of each well will first be measured. A representative sample of the
groundwater will then be collected and the dissolved oxygen contents will be measured.
li
Il
2.22 Riter Sock Installation
The filter socks are supplied in one-foot long, cylindrical containers that are permeable. A
string of filter socks will be weaved and lowered slowly by rope, into each of the wells in
order that, at a minimum, the entire saturated zone is intercepted by the filter socks. The
filter socks will not be set more than five feet above the top of the water surface, to account
for seasonal fluctuations in the water level.
2.2.3 Groundwater Monitoring
For six months following installation of the filter socks, the groundwater levels will be
IM
measured in each monitoring well and the dissolved oxygen content in groundwater will be
measured on a monthly basis. The dissolved oxygen content in I`he groundwater will provide
a measure of the increase in oxygen content over time.
f
9
t f
2.2.4 Disposal of Spent Filter Socks i[ii$x
Following hydration, the filter socks will solidify into inert blocks of magnesium hydroxide.
The socks will be disposed of as industrial waste to a sanitary landfill. `
3.0 Data Evaluation and Reports I! s
Following data collection the information will be evaluated based on the following parameters
as a function of time:
• Dissolved oxygen, and
I
• TPH as diesel concentrations, from quarterly groundwater sampling results.
i1 E
IIII 1
1 IIS
:t
MZ/07-10-96/VDBF)96-0017 4 li
k
r
