PUPTIC HEALTH SLIVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
JOGI KHANNA M.D.,M.P.H. H:
Health Officer
P.O. Box 2009 . (10,01 Fast Hazelton Avenue) Stockton, California 95201
(209) 468-3400
July 17, 1990
Ragul Foods
Frank Yoneshige
P.O. Box 9200
Stockton, CA 95208
RE: Ragu! Foods IN REPLY REFER TO SITE CODE: 22073
1400 E. Waterloo Rd.
Stockton, CA 95208
In response to your letter dated March 7, 1900, this site has been
placed into the Local Underground Storage Tank (UST) Oversight
Program, formerly referenced to as the Pilot Program, and the
groundwater investigation report submitted by Weston has been
reviewed.
This letter is a follow-up to our telephone conversation of June
19, 1990, and will provide you with an index of our concerns.
These concerns will require further investigation and documentation
of conditions at this site for future consideration of closure and
certification.
The analysis of samples collected from the soil boring (R-2)
drilled through the old tank pit in March of 1987 showed
substantial contamination. The report by Weston implies that this
contamination may be more vertical than horizontal due to the data
collected from boring (R-2) and boring (R-3) .
A work plan which would address feasible options for the
remediation of the tank pit area should be submitted to this
office.
Further sampling will be required to establish that groundwater was
not impacted. The test performed August 19, 1988 indicated "U"
(not detected) at the proper detection limits, however, this
laboratory exceeded the prescribed holding times by four days. As
a result, we cannot recognize that round of sampling.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health fare Services
