The addition of oxygen to the groundwater should
enhance the ability of microorganisms to degrade petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. In
reference to disposal, Regenesis recommends to simply dispose of the drummed spent filter
in an appropriate landfill. Please submit the proposed treatment plan utilizing the ORC
socks.
As PHS/EHD has indicated previously, residual soil contamination is evidenced at a depth
and concentration that warrants the preparation of a corrective action plan. A function of
corrective action plan preparation is an analysis to determine the potential threat which the
residual soil contamination may pose to groundwater. Should the potential groundwater
impact not significantly exceed regulatory levels, PHSIEHD concurs that long term
groundwater monitoring may be used for environmental fate verification.
It is PHS/EHD's intent to provide directives, so that information is available and remedial
efforts completed to warrant site closure/certification.
