Van Den Bergh Foods, Company <br /> Quarterly Groundwater Sampling <br /> July 29, 1994 <br /> Page 2 <br />' Report, November 10, 1992 for additional data and information <br />' In February of 1993, BSK drilled and sampled four soil borings to depths of 74 feet below the <br /> ground surface. Results of the analysis of the sail samples from the four bonngs indicate that <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons have not impacted soil beyond a radius of 35 feet from the former <br /> t underground tank location. Refer to BSK/Remediation Services, Soil Investigation and Quarterly <br /> Groundwater Sampling Report, April 2, 1993 for additional data and information <br />' Groundwater monitoring well MW-4 screened between 75 and 95 feet below the ground surface <br /> has been sampled on a quarterly basis since October 1992. <br />' In December of 1993, BSK installed two additional groundwater monitoring wells MW-5 and <br /> MW-6 Monitoring wells MW-5 and MW-6 are screened between 70 and 90 feet below the <br /> ground surface <br />' GROUNDWATER SAMPLING METHODS <br /> Prior to sampling, the depth to water in monitoring wells MW-4, MW-5 and MW-6 was <br /> measured utilizing an electric sounding tape. The top of the groundwater surface in the well and <br /> the bottom of the well was sampled for visual observations using a clear PVC bailer. The <br />' groundwater sample collected was examined for the presence of odors and indications of <br /> petroleum product. The well was then purged of at least four well volumes with a submersible <br /> pump. Parameters for pH, electric conductivity, and temperature were measured after removal <br />' of each well volume. Consistency of these measured properties indicate that fresh water was <br /> being drawn from the aquifer A groundwater sampling log was maintained for each well (refer <br /> to Well Field Logs). The groundwater removed during purging was placed into a 55-gallon DOT <br />' 17 EIH drum and labeled <br /> The groundwater was sampled with a Teflon'point source bailer. The samples were planed into <br />' an appropriate sample container with preservatives added and labeled. The samples were stored <br /> in an cooler with ice and shipped to the BSK State-certified Analytical Laboratories in Fresno <br />' for chemical testing <br /> ANALYTICAL TESTING <br />' Chemical analyses were performed on the samples for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel <br /> (TPH-D) by Method DHS GC/FID and Benzene, Toluene, Ethyibenzene, Xylenes (BTEX) by <br />' EPA Method 5030 and 602M <br /> A summary of the analytical results from this sampling event and previous samplings is presented <br /> in Table 1 The Chain-of-Custody record, Analytical Laboratory Data Sheets, and the Level 11 <br /> QC Summary are attached. <br /> &Associates <br />
