The Report describes the soil and groundwater results from six borings in the
aboveground tank area and from five monitoring wells installed to delineate the extent of petroleum
hydrocarbon pollution. Based on the results of this investigation, CP proposes to install at least one
multi-completion monitoring well about 150 downgradient of the furthest downgradient monitoring
wells. The multi-completion well is proposed to have separate screened intervals in the A, B, C, and D
water-bearing zones to delineate the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon pollution. CP will evaluate
soil remedial alternatives based on results of the groundwater extraction and treatment system, which
was started in August 2003.
The Second QMR proposes to use silica gel cleanup (SGCU) for total petroleum hydrocarbon as diesel
(TPHd) results. SGCU is not included as part of EPA Method 8015 and water quality objectives for
TPHd are based on results without SGCU. Therefore, CP must report TPHd results without SGCU.
Regional Board staff concurs with the other recommendations in the Report. By 4 October 2003, please
submit a work plan showing proposed well location(s),proposed sampling, and a figure illustrating the
proposed multi-completion well design.
