The Annual Report reviews the data collected and trends observed in
2002. The Investigation Report describes the soil and grab groundwater samples collected from
six cone penetrometer test locations, 17 Geoprobe® borings, one hand auger boring, and 11
HydroPunch®borings and the abandonment of four temporary observation wells. CP
recommends installing five groundwater monitoring wells to delineate the lateral and vertical
extent of pollution in groundwater.
We have the following comments on these reports:
I. As stated in Monitoring and Reporting Program No. 5-01-814, CP may combine the
information provided in the Fourth QMR and Annual Report into one report.
2. The Investigation Report shows two areas of elevated contaminant levels in soil. The soil
contamination in the tank farm area is not delineated, so CP needs to collect additional
soil samples in this area to determine the extent. The soil contamination area near the
California Environmental Protection Agency
0a Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real.
