Mr. Tracy Sizemore -2 - 21 February 2003
former vapor recovery line is delineated. CP needs to begin evaluating possible
alternatives for soil remediation.
3. Board staff is concerned about the concentrations of tertiary butyl alcohol in each of the
three grab groundwater samples collected from both HP-22 and HP-24. These sampling
locations are downgradient and away from the two apparent source areas. CP needs to
evaluate the possible source of this pollution.
4. It does not appear that the proposed wells will delineate the downgradient extent of
pollution based on the concentrations observed in HP-24. CP needs to consider revising
the proposed locations; otherwise, additional well installations may be needed in the
future.
5. The Investigation Report proposes two monitoring wells in the"C"water bearing zone.
CP will not be able to determine groundwater flow direction in the"C"water bearing
zone based on only two monitoring wells and needs to propose an additional well.
Board staff concurs with the Investigation Report's recommendation to install additional
monitoring wells. By 18 April 2003,please submit an investigation work plan that proposes
additional monitoring wells and incorporates the above comments.
