i
•
scrubbed with a brush in a bucket of tap water and detergent,
rinsed in a second bucket of tap water and given a final rinse in
a bucket of distilled water. All sampling procedures will be
performed in accordance with WaterWork's Quality Assurance and
Quality Control Plan (Appendix I) .
5.2 Monitoring Well installation
All borings will be advanced 15 feet beyond static groundwater and
converted to monitoring wells by the installation of 25 feet of
slatted screen with casing to the surface. Screened interval will
i
be 25 feet in length to allow for water table fluctuations. All
wells will be constructed of 2-inch diameter, flush-threaded,
schedule 40 PVC screen and casing (Figure 7) . Screen slot size
will be 0.010 inch, based on lithologic observations during
previous drilling. Wells will be filter packed using an
appropriate sand or equivalent, a two-foot thick bentonite seal
placed above the filter pack and then an annular seal of neat
cement will be tremmied into place. Wells will be completed below
m grade in water-tight, street-rated well protectors. All wells will
be fitted with water-tight, locking caps for security purposes.
Actual completion depths and screen placements will be determined
in the field based on hydrogeologic conditions encountered. All
procedures and protocol for groundwater monitoring well
construction will conform to the standards set by the California
i
Department of Water Resources and the Regional Water Quality
Control Board (RWQCB) . San Joaquin County Public Health Services
will be notified so that they may witness the placement of the
annular seal. Drilling will be conducted under a C57 license using
a hollow-stem auger drill rig.
Following installation, monitoring wells will be developed using
-« swab and bail method. Development water will be containerized 'Ln
DOT 178 drums and stored on site pending determination of proper
disposal method.
The top, north side of the well casing will be surveyed relative to
a common datum for determining groundwater gradient information.
ChevronU B A Ina - 367
ear P03279 TLP
