DEPTH TO GROUNDWATER:
According to maps published by the San Joaquin County Flood
Control Distract, the water table in this area is about 20' below
ground level. This data correlates well with the water depth
reported during the removal of the tanks. The transmissivity of
the aquifer in this area is not known, but it is possible that
tidal fluctuations may influence water levels.
PRIOR USE OF UST' S:
The tanks were used to fuel company and personal vehicles for
business purposes. They were installed in June, 1974, and were
taken out of service in June, 1994, when they were removed.
There -are no accurate records concerning fuel usage, and inven-
tory tracking reconcilliation was not performed.
LOCATION OF NEARBY WELLS:
According to verbal communication with Margaret Lagorio of the
San Joaquin County EHD, there are no domestic, private, or
groundwater monitoring wells within the zone of influence of this
site.
DETAILS OF TANK REMOVAL
On June 8, 1994, Thorpe Oil Co. removed two (2) 1 , 000 gallon
UST' s which had been used for storing & dispensing unleaded
gasoline. Refer to BY C for a copy of the Application for
Tank Removal & Site Closure. There was a strong petroleum odor
noted during excavation & removal of the tanks, and apparent soil
discoloration_ The piping from the tanks to the dispensing pump
was removed, as well as the pump. No odors or discoloration were
noted in those areas. The .removal of the tanks was witnessed by
Pamela Violett of the San Joaquin County EHD. Soil samples were
taken from the backhoe bucket by Fred Sav, an employee of Geo-
Analytical laboratory, as directed by the County representative.
PLATE IV shows the- locations of those samples_ The results of
the laboratory analyzes are listed on TABLE I; copies of the
laboratory reports are included as EXHIBIT G. The removed spoil
was returned to the hole, and barricades were placed around the
site. Refer to EXHIBIT E for a copy of the tank tracking
records. Copies of the Underground Storage Tank Unauthorized
Release Contamination Report, (094-U32, ) and Notice of Hazardous
Waste Discharge report, (Form EH-22 013, ) are included as EXHIBIT
F. Correspondence from the San Joaquin Co. EHD, dated July
18, 1994,. requires further assessment work to evaluate possible
3
