sow
soil & water contamination. Refer to EXHIBIT H. for details.
PROPOSED WORKPLAN. EOR RE-EXCAVATE_QN=
NOTE: All excavation & sampling operations will be performed
under the direction of a registered geologist from Wm. J. Hunter
& Associates.
1 . Using Thorpe Oil Inc. , backhoe, remove spoil from hole and
store on site.
2. Enlarge existing excavation approximately 2 feet on the
north, west, & south sides. Remove as much spoil as possible,
(2-3' , ) from the east side of the hole. PLATE V shows the
proposed size of the over-excavation-
3. Deepen the excavation to 15' bgl, or as deep as practical .
NOTE: it was reported that water was encountered at about 13-14 '
below grade during removal of the UST' s.
4 . Take soil samples as directed by the geologist in charge
and/or the representative of the San Joaquin Co. E111). A minimum
of one sample from each sidewall & two from the bottom are
proposed. Actual sample locations will depend upon the results
of the excavating & apparent contamination; proposed locations
are shown on PLATE V. Samples are to be collected from the teeth
of the backhoe bucket by driving or pushing a clean, metal tube
into the soil, promptly covering; the ends with foil or teflon
tape, and securing with plastic end caps and duct tape. Each
tube will clearly labeled & placed on ice in a sealed chest for
preservation.
5. Upon completion of sampling operations, the preserved samples
will be transported to FGL Environmental under chain of custody
with instructions to analyze for BTEX, (EPA 8020, ) & TP11-G, (EPA
8015M. )
6 . Removed spoil will either be stored temporarily on site
pending results of soil profiling analysis; removed to another
location for remediatio; or taken directly to a licensed storage
facility. If left on site, it will be thoroughly covered with
plastic. Appropriate soil samples will be taken & analyzed as
required by the storage facility. The final disposition of the
spoil will be thoroughly documented & copies of all manifests
will be furnished to the San Joaquin EHD.
4
