i <br /> Cicolagual Tecknus Inc Page 3 <br /> Valley Wholesale Drug Company <br /> Project No 989 2 <br /> November 8,2004 <br /> 1 following report documents the additional site characterization activities that were performed <br /> per the March 2004 work plan <br /> The following report also provides an Appendix B checklist for closure Estimates are made <br /> regarding the fate and transport and the total mass of contaminants present in the soil and <br /> ' groundwater <br /> 2.0 SOIL AND GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION <br /> Prior to commencing work, a soil bonng/monitonng well permit was secured and SJCEHD <br /> was notified 48 hours in advance The subsurface was cleared of underground utilities by <br /> notifying Underground Service Alert <br /> tOn August 23, 2004, GTI supervised the advancement of eight (8) GeoProbe borings The <br /> locations of the GeoProbe borings are shown on the site map (Figure 2) <br /> ' 2.1 GeoProbe Investigation <br /> On August 23, 2004, a 5400 series direct push drill ng owned and operated by V&W Drilling <br /> (C57# 720904) arrived at the site The GeoProbe advanced a coring tool with a pneumatic <br /> hammer to a depth between 12 and 16 feet bgs The soil samples entered an acetate cylinder <br /> ' contained in the coring tool Upon filling, the coring tool was pulled from the borehole and <br /> the cylinder is removed Selected depths were cut from the cylinder and the selected interval <br /> was capped with Teflon foil and plastic end caps The soil samples in the selected sections <br /> ' were placed on ice for shipment to the laboratory and the remaining soil was used for <br /> geologic logging <br /> ' Upon reaching the capillary fringe, a screened PVC casing was placed in the borehole The <br /> groundwater samples were collected using Waterra0 type check ball on poly tubing, and <br /> gently transferred into VOA vials The VOA vials were capped, inverted, tapped, and <br /> ' checked for headspace bubbles The vials were labeled and placed on ice for shipment to the <br /> laboratory Clean surgical gloves are worn at all tunes in handling of the sample and <br /> ' sainplmg equipment <br /> 2.2 Soil Sample Analysis <br /> ' The soil sample closest to the capillary fringe, from each GeoProbe borehole, was submitted <br /> to Sequoia Analytical — Sacramento, a state certified laboratory (CA ELAP #1624) for the <br /> following analysis <br /> • Gasoline Range Organics, BTEX and Oxygenates by EPA method 8260B <br /> • TPH-G, benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, total xylenes, MtBE, ETBE, TAME, DIPE, <br /> TBA, 1,2-DCA and EDB <br />
