Ms. Victoria McCartney
ARCO 5450 Well Destruction Work Plan
August 4, 2006
Page 2
Well Destruction - The destruction of the wells will be supervised by the BP execution
contractor. A licensed drilling company will complete the well destruction work following the
California Well Standards bulletin 74-90 Part lll, Section 19 and 23.
The wells will be pressure grouted from total depth to approximately ground surface using
neat cement. After pressure grouting the upper five feet of the well casing will be
overdrilled. The drilling contractor will remove each traffic rated well box. The former well
will be capped with appropriate materials to match existing grade.
REPORTING
A letter summarizing the well destruction and soil disposal activities will be prepared and
submitted to the RWQCB and San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(SJEHD). The letter will include copies of the well destruction permits. Submittal of the
report will complete the final requirements of RWQCB to obtain a "No Further Action"
designation for the site.
SCHEDULE
Permits for destruction of the wells will be submitted to SJEHD under separate cover. The
fieldwork can be started after permit approval by SJEHD. The well destruction summary
report will be completed 30 days after completion of the field work.
I:IBP-ARCOI04 BP Valley Portfolio154501Work Plan15450 well destruction WP.doc
