Box 388
Stockton, California 95201
Subject: Final Closure.Report -Destruction of Monitoring Well MW-1, Nor Cal Beverage
Company, 1800 East Fremont Street, Stockton, California.
Dear Mr. Sasson:
In response to the August 1, 1995 San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health
Division (PHSIEHD), letter Ground Zero Analysis, Inc. (Ground Zero) is submitting this final closure
report for the subject site.
On August 14, 1995 a Ground Zero geologist supervised Spectrum Drilling Company (C-57 license No.
512268) of Stockton, California destroy 2-inch diameter, monitoring well MW-1. The well was
screened from 60.16 feet to 74.26 feet. Depth to water was measured in MW-1 at 61.93 feet below
the top-of-casing prior to destruction. The well was destroyed in accordance with PHS/EHD
requirements under permit No. 006960. Mr. Harlin Knoll of PHSIEHD observed the well destruction.
A mixture of four bags of Type 11 low alkali Calaveras cement, 5 lbs of bentonite powder and
approximately 30 gallons of water were tremmied into the well casing using 1-inch diameter PVC pipe
from the total depth (75 feet) to ground surface. The well was then pressure grouted, to ensure that
any void space in the filter pack and surrounding formation around MW-1 were filled.
An 8-inch outside diameter hollow-stem auger was advanced by Spectrum to a depth of five feet in
order to drill out the well casing. The remaining grout was then poured into the boring from 5 feet to
1 foot below ground surface. Concrete mixed with black dye was placed in the remaining 1 foot of the
boring, level with the surrounding asphalt surface.
Nor Cal has complied with all PHSIEHD requirements for site closure, and trusts that the property will
now be removed from the contaminated site list, and a final closure letter will be forthcoming.
