k.d
Background Information: Swift Roofing
UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
It is our understanding that one 1,000-gallon leaded gasoline, steel underground storage tank(UST)
was removed in May 1990.An EHD approval UST removal permit was issued in June 1990 and the
removal was brought into compliance. It does not appear that confirmation soil sampling was
performed at the time of removal.
PREVIOUS SITE ASSESSMENT
On 24 July 2007, one soil probe boring (B1) was advanced in the former UST area. Discrete soil
samples were collected at 5-foot intervals, beginning at 5 feet bsg, to the total depth of the boring
at 20 feet bsg. In addition, one grab ground water sample was collected from boring 131 at total
depth,
• TPH-g and BTEX compounds were detected in soil sample B1-10 at concentrations of 560
milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), 0.030 mg/kg, 0.50 mg/kg, 8.8 mg/kg, and 43 mg/kg,
respectively. ,
• TPH-g and BTEX compounds were detected in the grab ground water sample B-1 W at
concentrations of 2,200 micrograms/liter(µg/l), 3.0 gg/l, 9.3 µg/1, 240 }ig/l, and 710 gg/l,
respectively
On 31 January 2008, six soil borings were advanced at location CPT-1 for one cone penetrometer
testing. CPT-1 was located in the former UST area(Figure 2), Discreet soil samples were collected
from three separate borings adjacent to the CPT-1 boring at depths of 30, 40 and 50 feet bsg.
Additionally, discrete groundwater samples were collected from two separate borings adjacent to
the CPT-1 boring location at depths of46 and 58 feetbsg.Constituents of concern were not reported
in any of the soil or grab ground water samples collected from the CPT-1 boring location.
On 04 February 2008, three soil borings (MW1, MW2, and MW3) were advanced at the site. The
boring s were completed as ground monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2,MW-3. Discrete soil samples
were collected at 5-foot intervals, beginning at 5 feet bsg,to the total depth of the borings at 20 feet
bsg. Total xylenes were reported in the soil sample collected from MW3-5 at a concentration of
0.046 mg/kg.
In March 2009,Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc. prepared a Closure Summary Report, dated 05
March 2009,requesting site closure, based on results of subsurface investigation of the UST area at
the site.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
