Stockton Taxi Cab/Sunland Gasoline September 16, 2003
2085 Fremont Street,Stockton, California Page 3
Report of Findings: Lateral and Vertical Extent
of Soil and Groundwater Contamination Z%
converted to monitoring wells. Figure 3 illustrates the placement of propo'se oil and
groundwater monitoring wells.
■ Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation: Conversion of four (4) soil borings to
monitoring wells. The groundwater table is approximately 58' below the surface.
The placements of these wells are depicted in Figure 3. Soil samples from each
boring were collected at 5' intervals. Each sample was screened with a PID for the
presence of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination.
3.1 Drilling
Permits were obtained, as necessary, for the borings before drilling begins. The
borings for the monitoring wells and four (4) of the soil borings were
accomplished using a mobile mounted drilling rig employing the use of a hollow
stem flight auger no less than 3 114-inch i.d. and 8 7/8 o.d.
All drilling equipment was thoroughly steam cleaned before drilling began, to
prevent the introduction of contamination from off site, and between borings to
prevent cross contamination.
I The borings were logged under the direct supervision of a registered professional
using the Unified Soil Classification System (Appendix Q. The color, texture,
moisture, plasticity (if applicable), consistency of the earth materials, pertinent
soil or bedrock characteristics, and any evidence of contamination were noted.
All water-bearing zones and the depths at which they were encountered were
noted on these logs (Appendix B).
All borings were drilled in such a manner as to prevent cross contamination
g
between strata. The borings were then terminated with a cement and three percent
' (3%) Bentonite mixture.
r3.2 Soil Sampling C a"^0Y
All soil sampling equipment was thoroughlysteam clear before and between
sampling to prevent cross contamination. Relatively-undisturbed soil samples
were taken at intervals of not more than five feet (5') in order to evaluate the
' subsurface materials.
The soil samples were taken using a California Modified Split Spoon sampler
with brass liners. The sampler were driven continuously by a wire line hammer.
1
