A R I A
HYDROCARBON DISTRIBUTION IN GROUNDWATER
Groundwater samples were collected at four depths in each boring These depths were similar
from boring to boring and were selected to sample groundwater from coarse-grained sediments
The depth ranges where groundwater samples were collected were approximately 85 to 88 fbg,
108 to 114 fbg, 127 to 137, and 148 to 150 One sample (127 to 137 fbg) in boring SB-29 was
inadvertently not collected
No fuel oxygenates or EDB were detected in groundwater samples collected from these borings
with the exception of 2 9 parts per billion (ppb) DIPE detected in boring SB-29 at 86 fbg DIPE
has previously been detected in well S-4-83, which is located near SB-29 and screened at
approximately the same depth as where the SB-29 groundwater sample was collected from
1,2-DCA was detected in groundwater samples from each boring at concentrations ranging from
0 56 to 65 ppb The highest concentrations of 1,2-DCA was detected in boring SB-29 The least
amount of 1,2-DCA was detected in boring SB-23, where 1,2-DCA was present at a 0 69 ppb at
109 fbg,and not present in the other three groundwater samples collected from this boring
Grab groundwater sample analytical data from the CPT bonngs are summanzed in Table 3 and
the 1,2-DCA data are presented on Figure 2 The certified analytical reports for the CPT
groundwater samples are presented in Appendix F Groundwater chemical analytical data for the
site wells are summarized in Blaine's table(Appendix D)
OFFSITE SOURCE RESEARCH
Cambria performed research to identify properties within 1/a-mile of the subject site that may
have been impacted by hazardous materials or waste Cambria reviewed research material
prepared by Environmental Data Resources, Inc (EDR) The most significant finding of this
research indicates a service station was present on the property located immediately north of the
Shell site This information was obtained from the Polk City Directory, which were researched
on an approximate five-year interval The city directory lists the property address 2491 East
Fremont Street as a service station during the years 1960, 1967, and 1972 The property is listed
as vacant in 1977 and occupied by Valverde's Mexican Restaurant in 1982, 1988, 1993, 1999,
and 2003 In 2003 the property is also listed as Fremont Beauty Salon A copy of the EDR City
Directory Abstract is included as Appendix G
0797 5
